Digital Cartooning: original material written by Gary Hansen - taught by Norma Murphy.
Gary Hansen wrote these courses for VAA and bequeathed them to the school. His partner in the Viking Folkore site "Acadie" was very familiar with his material and was a long time friend. "Acadie" will now be teaching both of Gary's "Digital Cartooning" courses. The courses have been modified by Acadie, but the course material remains true to Gary's style. This course will be presented over a six week period based on 2-3 hours of daily practice. You will practice making characters of your own from what you learn in the each lesson.

This course was written to be presented over a six week time period based on 3-4 hours of daily practice. You will practice making characters of your own from what you learn in the each lesson.

Skill Level: Intermediate knowledge of your software of choice.

1. Be Knowledgeable of the Path Tools and Path Edit Tools.
2. You must have either PhotoImpact 7, 8,8.5, XL, 10 or 11.
3. Or the Serif Draw Plus 7 Program.

I will guide you through this Cartooning course as easily and painlessly as possible. These lessons are geared for digital drawing with either a mouse or a tablet.

• Lesson 1.. faces,eyes,ears,and noses.
• Lesson 2.. the upper body,torso,arms, and a few simple hands.
• Lesson 3.. the lower body,legs,and shoes, and a few simple hands.
• Lesson 4.. hands,shoes and some bare feet.
• Lesson 5.. creating all the parts of the character as one.
• Lesson 6.. various positions of the character, such as bending, running, jumping, standing etc.
