Instructions:
Ok, now that we have made some brush presets, we are going to package them and share them with others. (For earlier version you will have to click on Export to share them).

A new window will open, you will have to give the file the same name that you gave it in your EP. Make sure all thumbnails of the current group are selected, then click OK.

Do the same with the charcoal brush. With one of the charcoal brush presets I used a texture so with version PI 8 and up it also will export the texture I did use for one of the charcoal preset and it did make that little folder with the texture in it. For earlier Version of PI you will have to make that folder and put your textures in it.

Here is my texture file that is in my folder.

Now that we have packaged or exported to a specific folder outside of PI, we are ready to zip and share the presets with others. You will need Winzip for it, some use other programs to zip their files but most of us use Winzip. Once your Program has been installed, open the folder where you have your brush presets and their SMP files. Select the folder and the brush charcoal preset if you did use a texture in one of your brushes then right click and click on to add to file then type in the name at the end of the location info. For the Bristle brush, select, right click and click on Add to add your bristle brush. We only have that SMP. file to zip.

Now this is what we have in our folder, our two zipped files ready to be shared with others.

Now if you have downloaded my brush presets, you can import them into you EP. Click on Gallery Manager then on Import.

OK, navigate to your unzipped brushes. Here, as an example I will import one of Hillie's brushes. Make sure the dot is in that circle for the Open as a New Gallery box, so it is not going to mix up with other galleries that I have in my EP . Then you click ok.

Now lets see what we did. Scroll down to the bottom of your gallery in your EP. There you can see a new gallery called brush-horse-hillie, the same way as she has named her brush. See how important it is to name your brush correctly. I know now that this is Hillie's brush and that she did use it to paint her horse and with the little icon on the bottom right I know it is a paint brush preset. Also, if I open the Brush Panel after I double clicked on the thumbnail in my EP, I can see all the setting she has used to make her brush preset. Very important is to check that Brush Panel. It sure helps us to learn more about adjusting settings for our brushes.

IMPORTANT: One last thing, if you want to remove a brush preset from your EP, use the detach and it will remove it from your EP. But if you click on delete it will delete not only from your EP but also from your preset folder outside PhotoImpact. So be careful when you use it.

So to be on the safe side I always Detach from my EP and if I really want to delete a folder or a file I do it directly in that folder.

Hope this tut will make it easier for you. Happy preset making and sharing.
