Decompressing (Unzipping) files in Windows XP

Instructions:

This tutorial is for those of you using Windows XP.

(If you don't use Windows XP, you need to install a third party compression program such as WinZip or WinRAR). Both these programs have free Trial Versions available.

ZDnet has a list of similar programs. Please check them out!

Locate the downloaded, zipped (compressed) file on your computer by browsing with My Computer or Windows Explorer.

Double click the compressed folder and choose "Extract all files" under the Folder Tasks.

The Compressed Folders Extraction Wizard will open. Click: Next. Specify where you want to put the extracted files.

Make note of where you put your extracted files so that you can find them later.

That is all there is to it. That was easy wasn't it? Now your extracted files are ready for you to use.

NOTE: When you extract a file, the compressed version of that file remains in the compressed (zip) file. If you don't want to keep the zip file you may delete it.
